Newport HS

90% AP pass rate across 2,700+ annual exams. Less pressure-cooker than Interlake. Many Indian families research Interlake, choose Newport, and are quietly relieved.
International School

BSD without the BSD pressure. Small, collaborative, project-driven. Great for intellectually curious kids who need discussion over drilling.

The Gifted Pipeline
BSD's gifted pipeline starts in 2nd grade. CogAT testing requires 98th percentile cognitive + 95th percentile achievement. Track runs Cherry Crest/Medina/Somerset/Woodridge → Odle Middle → Interlake HS. Families from India with strong students are regularly surprised when their child doesn't qualify — the peer bar is exceptional.

"BSD is unbeatable — if your kid is already doing AIME-level math for fun and you're buying a 12-year pipeline. If that's not your family, LWSD and NSD get your kid to an excellent university with far less collateral damage."

The Tesla STEM Pipeline
LWSD doesn't have BSD's centralized gifted track. The flagship is Tesla STEM — apply fall of 8th grade, lottery in January. Only ~150 spots/year; waitlist past #236. Strategy: apply every November from 8th grade, and plan as if you won't get in. For younger children, International Community School (ICS) offers a K–8 choice pathway.

"If you work at Microsoft or Amazon, LWSD is genuinely your district. The tech-family peer network your kid grows up in is worth more than any private school alumni network — and it's free. Tesla STEM is extraordinary if you get in. Redmond HS is extraordinary even if you don't."

Music performed at Carnegie Hall in 2019. Strong AP, excellent facilities, deep sports culture. Community-oriented — frequently cited as the reason families chose Woodinville over Bellevue.
Inglemoor HS

NSD's IB Diploma program — one of very few public IB schools in WA. More arts-focused. Perfect for well-rounded students who want IB without BSD's pressure environment.
Bothell HS
#56 WA
Best music and arts program of any Eastside public school. Five consecutive years at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Essentially Ellington. Real identity beyond test scores.

Bothell East runs 20%+ Indian population. Navratri, Diwali, and Ganesh Chaturthi are community events, not living room events. HTCC temple brings thousands of South Asian families together from across the Eastside.

The Academic Path
NSD doesn't have BSD's centralized gifted track. No stress about qualifying for selective programs in 2nd grade. Strong advanced programs at the high school level — aggressive AP at North Creek, IB Diploma at Inglemoor. Rigorous AP coursework through high school, not early sorting.
Ariv's Take
"Northshore is the answer most families from Bellevue don't want to hear — until they've been here five years and their neighbor in Bothell has a kid at UW Engineering and paid $400K less. I grew up here. The HTCC community is real. The $15M in scholarships from one graduating class is real."
